Cigna Eyes Rapid Expansion in the Middle East

Dubai-UAE: 06 March 2018 - Cigna Corporation (NYSE:CI), the global health services company, has officially opened its new office in the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), which will serve as headquarters for its Middle East and North Africa (MENA) operations. The new office is a symbol of Cigna’s commitment to the Middle East as the company prepares to hire and develop more local talent, enhance its local and regional presence, and create long-term value for its partners and customers.

The DWTC Authority has played a pivotal role in establishing Dubai's position as a global financial and commercial hub and has become a vibrant business center. The establishment of Cigna’s headquarters at the DWTC building marks another milestone in its operations. The 20,000-sqft premises will be a fully-fledged office space accommodating more than 200 Cigna employees across the company’s group health and individual private medical insurance (IPMI) businesses. The launch puts Cigna in a prime position to deliver effective personal and local health service solutions in the UAE and across the broader Middle East region.

In keeping with Cigna’s focus on well-being, the new office space has been designed to promote employee health and well-being, as well as efficiency and productivity. The company is applying for WELL Building StandardTM certification.

The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of the Dubai World Trade Centre Authority (DWTC) and Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing and CEO of Dubai World Trade Centre; Ali Lutfi, Acting Director Health Funding at the Dubai Health Authority (DHA); Ali Ibrahim Mohamed Ismael, Deputy Director General at the Department of Economic Development (DED); and Khaled Yousif Alfahim, Vice President - Asset & Investment Management at the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC).

Art Cozad, CEO of Cigna Insurance Middle East, said: “The region’s insurance market is ripe for expansion and remains central to our global growth strategy. We are delighted to reach another milestone in the Middle East with the opening of our new and team-centric headquarters in the DWTC business complex. This presents a significant opportunity to enhance our local and regional presence for the next phase of our growth. Our strategy is to expand the reach of our health services and solutions, and to develop new offerings in the market that will improve health outcomes for our customers.”
